Six Flags Homeschool Day

Jorge took the day off work and the whole family went to Six Flags. Yes, Auston is not homeschooled and he really didn't want to skip school but we made him!! He doesn't like big rides but he managed to have fun anyway. Auston and Jaden rode "Mind Bender" the rollercoaster. They didn't want to ride it again but they said they liked it. Jorge got Alexandra to finally ride "Goliath". She wanted to pass out but managed thru it. I am not sure if she will go again. She likes most of the rides but it was a bit much for her. We had a great time. We ended the day with a family movie night to rest our weary feet... or atleast Jorge and I's!!

April 2010

Where did April go? I am not sure how it has come and gone so quickly but it is already May 7th!! I had to look at my calendar to see what all happened. Easter was nice. We went to Osborne Park for lunch and an egg hunt. The Smith's, Jeff, Graisen, Grandma and grandpa were there. We enjoy the park becasue it has a beautiful creek and an old covered bridge to walk over. Easter was the beginning of Spring Break. We didn't have any plans this year so we hung out around home which I have to say was nice. I am already looking forward to summer. I took the kids to the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga and to the park with their bikes. Besides playing with friends at home, that is all we did. Considering 4 nights a week sometimes 5 plus Saturday games, we are going to Karate and soccer, it was a welcome rest. The last week of the month, Jaden had CRCT testing in Rome,GA for three days. Hopefully he did well. Hopefully he has learned something from his old mom!! Some days he is quite challenging to home school. He does however, love history so I bribe him to do his work then he gets to do history. Crazy huh??

February 2010

It has been an eventful month!! I can't believe how fast it has gone by.
February 6th was our 17th Wedding anniversary. We spent a weekend up in the North Georgia mountains in Blue Ridge. This was our second year in a row there, we really enjoy just being together with no where to go and nothing to do. I love Jorge. I am so glad we have worked thru the bad days and enjoyed the good days all these years. We have grown so much and I appreciate the relationship that we share. I thank my Father in Heaven for bringing us together and supporting us thru our marriage.
February 5th was Dilan's 5th Birthday even though I have tried very hard to not allow him to grow up. He is my baby and I would like to keep him that way forever!! I have assured him that even when he is taller than me, he will still be my baby! He is happy to be a big boy now. He got to play with his friends at a jumpy place.
I survived Auston's soccer camp and he started at CFC. His practices have been all over and at different times due to the weather but it hasn't been that bad. Thus far I have enjoyed taking him and the time we have to talk. I might sing a different tune by the end of the season. He will be very happy and I know his skills will improve so it will all be worth it.
Alexandra is now home schooled and we are making the best of it. She is much happier being home. She is just happy to have the time to read again. She was really affected by the "junk" at school. She was miserable because of the time wasted when she could be home getting her work done then enjoying a good book. She has decided not to play soccer this season which lightens my load but still saddens me. She is going to get a little more serious in Karate.
Jaden is still happy being home. He is really loving history. We started learning about Mesopotamia to Egyptians and now the Greeks. He loves it! I have to make him do his other work first then if he does well, he gets history!! Hopefully he will get to play soccer now that Alexandra isn't. We are waiting to see.

Kids

DILAN started a PreK program. He goes MWF for a couple of hours. I wasn't sure how he would like it considering he dislikes getting out of his pj's and leaving the house. But shockingly enough he LOVES it. Today he recited "Humpty Dumpty" for his class and others. He did a great job and wasn't shy at all. His costume was cute(Thanks to mom!!)
JADEN went to the local public school for about 2 1/2weeks before mommy realized she had made a mistake sending him back to school. He his back homeschooling and doing very well. He is so smart and as a reward for doing a good job he is having a sleep over with Cole. They actually went to bed around 10:30!!
AUSTON is doing well in 6th grade. He is enjoying being back at school and was looking forward to trying out for the soccer team. He has been attending a Coerver coaching camp every Thursday and is loving the style of training. The coach has invited him to play in a tournament in February. We are now going to move him to Cobb Futbol Club and are excited to see how he can grow with this new program. He won't be able to play for school but he doesn't care now that he gets to play with CFC.
ALEXANDRA is not enjoying 8th grade. She has only been back to school 2 1/2months and is already asking to be homeschooled again. She wanted to be social but has had a difficult time finding anyone with her same standards. It is so sad to hear about how the children behave at school. It makes me very concerned for our future. We will let her homeschool as soon as I figure out how to without K12.

Family

JORGE had some excitement this month. He had a bad reaction to some workout powder and ended up in the ER. After the horrible headache subsided he was able to sleep all night and thru the next day. It took several days to get back to normal. As second counselor in the YM Stake Presidency, he has been overseeing a Youth service project for next month.
JOY... I am happier now that my kids want to home school. I am also stressed out about changing soccer teams but I will survive. It isn't easy getting everyone to all their games and now I am traveling 45 minutes just to the new program. I think I am CRAZY!!

All in all it has been a good month. I feel as a family we are growing and learning to love each other better. I am excited that 2010 has started off so well. I look forward to the rest of the year. I thank God for all our blessings and for my wonderful family.
